GM bulletin PIT6347A

What it saysThis Preliminary information communicates an issue with ABS SES MIL / Service Brake System / Service StabiliTrak / BSCM DTC P0606 P0562 and dealers to perform additional battery and connection testing. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

GM filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Mar 11, 2025, received Mar 17, 2025, about the service brakes. It names 16 model years across Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac (2022–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 16 model years this bulletin names have filed 2,404 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 84 of them name Service Brakes — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

Bought new and there was a brake pad sensor message immediately that we took it to the dealer several times for and nothing was done other than clearing the code and giving it back. Was in accident 1/24 and it was found that there was a frayed/damaged wire in the break module and break pad sensor that I feel could have led to the accident

2023 Chevrolet Tahoe · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Apr 2, 2024

On January 21, 2024, my family and I went to lunch. As we proceeded to leave to return home when I pressed the brake the braking system, traction system, and forward collision systems all failed simultaneously, causing me to be unable to stop the vehicle which caused it to go through a stop sign while the brakes were fully depressed.

2022 GMC Yukon · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Feb 6, 2024

On February 14, 2025, my brakes went completely out in the school carline while picking up my youngest daughter. After the incident happened, I saw a light that read "Service ESC." This private elementary school is next-door to a private high school. There were students, teachers, and parents walking in this area at this time.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is GM PIT6347A a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the PIT6347A repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does PIT6347A cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 16 model years across 3 brands (Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac): 2025 Cadillac Escalade, 2024 Cadillac Escalade, 2023 Cadillac Escalade, 2022 Cadillac Escalade, 2025 Chevrolet Suburban, 2024 Chevrolet Suburban and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
