What it saysThis Pending Service Solution (PSS) requests that technicians enter a record in the PSS database in instsances where engine control unit drive system faults P060C00, and U041600 are stored. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Dec 19, 2024, received Jan 7, 2025, about the engine. It names 21 model years (2022–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 21 model years this bulletin names have filed 210 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 34 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

My Audi RS6 has experienced a failure involving the engine cooling system/water pump that requires repair. This appears to be a recurring issue among C8 RS6 owners. Other owners have reported water-pump failures, coolant loss, overheating, drivetrain malfunction warnings, turbo underboost faults, and vehicles entering reduced-power or…

2024 Audi RS · Engine · filed with NHTSA Sep 22, 2026 · ODI 11766216

The car was at the dealership for a second time due to an emissions issue. While there the coolant light came on. After paying for a second evaluation, it was determined that the water pump was failing. Because of the water pump design, coolant migration occurred which can ultimately lead to turbo failure or catastrophic issues.

2022 Audi SQ5 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Sep 20, 2026 · ODI 11765703

On July 17,2026 my vehicle suddenly overheated. All warning lights came on and I stopped immediately. The car had to be towed to North Atlanta Audi for inspection and repair. I was told the waterpump had failed and corrupted the vacuum lines. There was no symptoms or previous warnings at any time.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Is Audi A0124512072710_4 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the A0124512072710_4 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.
