In owners’ own words

Filed with NHTSA by the people who own these cars, about the engine. Quoted as written, with anything identifying removed; unverified reports — what was said, not a finding that it was true.

At various times during driving the car's engine will feel like there's no power or no gas and will go into a stall. This has happened both during accelerating from a stop going into traffic and during driving and accelerating.
Engine at 1,000 miles Mar 12, 2018 NHTSA owner report
The vehicle at times when going from a stop will occasionally totally lose all propulsion for a split second which has caused me to almost be dead in traffic. It is very scary when it happens. I don't know if it is a engine or transmission or fuel problem. I had the problem with a 2014 santa fe.
Engine at 100 miles Dec 27, 2017 NHTSA owner report
When taking corners the car just revs but I cannot accelerate. I have to move over to let cars pass. I almost got in an accident twice over this issue. I don't know when it is going to happen. Also at a complete stop the engine will not accelerate just rev for about 15-30 seconds. Hyundai tells me just learn how to drive
Engine at 15,400 miles Dec 13, 2017 NHTSA owner report
Vehicle randomly won't accelerate, primarily after a full stop. It hesitates for several seconds. This can be dangerous when entering an intersection
