The rear window of my 2023 Honda HRV blew out and hit me in the arm as I was walking around the rear of the vehicle. I was parked in an open parking lot with nothing around to strike the glass in any way. Both seals on either side of the window blew out as well.
My 2023 Honda HRV was sitting in the parking lot of a restaurant when the back window exploded outward on 06/17/2023. No impact. Just exploded on its own. Overcast, cloudy, light on and off rain and roughly 60-65 degrees F outside
My back windshield exploded while sitting in my car. There was no impact to the window. It shattered from the inside out
I was driving at night with my rear defogger on, then when I got home and the vehicle was parked, I heard the rear window shattering, nothing at all hit it, it was spontaneous, I looked online because I was confused and found that other 2023 Honda HR-V owners had this happen to them.
While at a stoplight on a 45 degree morning with rear defroster on back window shattered outward with no warning or impact

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre visibility and wiper problems common on the 2023 Honda HR-V?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 401 owner complaints naming the wipers, glass and mirrors on this model year (58% of everything owners filed about it), and 23 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the wipers, glass and mirrors on the 2023 Honda HR-V?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 3 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do visibility and wiper problems show up on the 2023 Honda HR-V?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 13,000 miles; half of them between 10,000 and 19,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Visibility/Wiper" heading cover?
Windshields, wipers, washers, mirrors and defrosters. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
