Counts are owner reports to NHTSA, not verified defects, and scale with how many of these were sold; nothing here is a rate. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so “Engine” means the same area of the vehicle, not one fault.

The contact called on behalf of his girlfriend who owns a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving 70 MPH, the automotive power was reduced. The message "Pull Over" was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The driver immediately pulled over and restarted the vehicle.
Coolant leak issue that caused the check engine light to turn on. This defect is present within these 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrids with EcoBoost engines. My safety and the safety of my passengers was put at risk since this defect can cause coolant to leak into the cylinders, leading to corrosion, misfires, engine failure, and even potential…
Check engine light stays on says catalytic converter is bad now. I have been waiting since June of last year for recall on battery because of fire hazard. I have been using gas instead of charge. Nothing is being done to fix the problem
Car has 89,900 miles on it. Has been serviced every 5k miles. Never had an issue. And then last Friday the car started making a rattling sound under the hood. So I pulled over. No warning lights whatsoever was visible. I turned the car off checked everything and it all seemed fine. I turned back on the car and heard nothing.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre engine problems common on the 2019 Ford Fusion?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 225 owner complaints naming the engine on this model year (48% of everything owners filed about it), and 79 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the engine on the 2019 Ford Fusion?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 4 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do engine problems show up on the 2019 Ford Fusion?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 82,000 miles; half of them between 60,000 and 96,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Engine" heading cover?
The engine and its cooling system. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
