Chevrolet Equinox fuel system problems, 2016–2027
389 of the 2,715 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Chevrolet Equinox 2016–2027 name the fuel system (NHTSA’s “Fuel/Propulsion System” heading — fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors). The loudest years: 2022 (108), 2020 (57), 2023 (50). Filed under the same heading across these years: 3 manufacturer bulletins, 3 recall campaigns. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the fuel system. Nothing here is a rate.
When the fuel system complaints were filed, and at what mileage
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseFiled per calendar year, every model year together: 2017: 2 · 2018: 5 · 2019: 8 · 2020: 16 · 2021: 9 · 2022: 25 · 2023: 51 · 2024: 64 · 2025: 102 · 2026: 107

The same part that is causing a recall for 2021-22 models just went out on my 2020. Why aren't the 2020's recalled? This is causing it to be hard to get the part. It's the fuel pump control module. 2020's need to be included in this recall. My car is only 4 years old, and is just past the warranty (47k miles).
Fuel pump, failure just under 25,000 miles. Car stopped running, when not expected. 01/31/2024
February-March 2024 the car would stall when trying to accelerate. April 2024 while driving to the store, the vehicle reduced speed and went into power save mode, and the check engine light appeared. I took it to the dealer on a Monday morning and from their diagnosis they reported nothing was wrong.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Chevrolet Equinox years have the most fuel system complaints?
2022, 108; 2020, 57; 2023, 50. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2022 (61%).
Is there a recall for the fuel system on the Chevrolet Equinox?
Yes — 3 campaigns are filed under this heading across these model years: 23V013000 (2022), 19V667000 (2020), 18V358000 (2018). A recall is matched by VIN, and applies to specific years; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
When do fuel system problems show up on the Chevrolet Equinox?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 34,000 miles across the model years; half of them between 8,000 and 57,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Fuel/Propulsion System" heading cover?
Fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
