Porsche bulletin No. 2505

What it saysAdvanced Technical Information - Macan (95B. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Porsche filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated May 6, 2025, received Mar 6, 2025, about the fuel/propulsion system — 2 documents under this number. It names 10 model years (2016–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 10 model years this bulletin names have filed 231 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 19 of them name Fuel/Propulsion System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

As I was stepping on the accelerator, I heard two pops and somehow the car lost its torque/pull. Check engine light came on. Went to the dealership and they said the high pressure fuel pump is broken and it cracked. There seems to be a recall for 2015 to 2018 models, but not 2020 models. My car only has 13000 miles too.

The contact owns a 2017 Porsche Macan GTS. The contact stated that upon attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. After a visual inspection of the fuel system, the contact became aware that the fuel pump flange was cracked, causing a fuel leak. No warning lights were illuminated.

2017 Porsche Macan · Fuel/Propulsion System · filed with NHTSA Dec 14, 2023 · ODI 11560164

My vehicle is experiencing the following fuel system issue listed below in the NHTSA campaign. Porsche will not recognize my vehicle as being part of this recall issue, and this is a significant safety issue for my family. Your help in rectifying this situation would be greatly appreciated.

2018 Porsche Macan · Fuel/Propulsion System · filed with NHTSA Nov 2, 2024 · ODI 11623254

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Porsche No. 2505 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the No. 2505 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Porsche warranty extension on file lists the ones Porsche has filed.

Which vehicles does No. 2505 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 10 model years: 2025 Porsche Macan, 2024 Porsche Macan, 2023 Porsche Macan, 2022 Porsche Macan, 2021 Porsche Macan, 2020 Porsche Macan and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
