Mazda bulletin 16-010-26

Mazda filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jul 1, 2026, received Jul 2, 2026, about the unknown or other. It names 14 model years (2023–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

COMPLIANCE WITH NEW YORK STATE GENERAL BUSINESS LAW §399‑CCCCC (CONNECTED VEHICLE SERVICE; DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS) DESCRIPTION This Service Information is issued in accordance with New York State General Business Law §399􀀀CCCCC (Connected Vehicle Service; Domestic Violence Victims). This regulation is intended to protect victims of domestic violence by allowing them to request the termination of third-party access (including access by an alleged abuser) to connected vehicle services, such as vehicle location tracking and remote control functions. To support this requirement, this Service Information enables confirmation of whether a vehicle is subject to connected vehicle services by referring to the SUBJECT VIN & PRODUCTION DATE RANGE, and provides guidance on the procedure to terminate such services when a customer requests the removal of third-party access for an applicable vehicle. Effective July 1, 2026, if a customer requests action under this regulation, a CMU/CDC software update must be performed to enable appropriate control of connected vehicle service access. If no request is made by the customer, the CMU/CDC software update is not required. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Confirm that the customer has requested deactivation of connected services in accordance with New York State General Business Law related action. 2. Perform the CMU/CDC software update according to the procedures outlined in the appropriate TSB shown in the table below:

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5; the full text comes from the manufacturer or a dealer. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. Quote it at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Mazda 16-010-26 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 16-010-26 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 16-010-26 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 14 model years: 2026 Mazda CX-30, 2025 Mazda CX-30, 2026 Mazda CX-5, 2026 Mazda CX-50, 2025 Mazda CX-50, 2024 Mazda CX-50 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
