Genesis bulletin T47G

What it saysCertain G80 (RG3), GV70 (JK1), GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV), and GV80 (JX1) vehicles equipped with the AVN 6th Gen system may experience an incomplete OTA update. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Genesis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jun 13, 2024, received Jul 2, 2024, about the electrical system — 1 document under this number: 24-01-044G. It names 11 model years (2021–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 11 model years this bulletin names have filed 384 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 77 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

ICCU failed leaving me stranded on the side of the road (thankfully not on bridge). This was supposed to have been fixed under a recall the week prior by reprogramming the computer. Genesis has not changed the ICCU so even if/when repaired, it will most likely happen again. The Genesis of Wexford, PA dealer confirmed ICCU and fuse blown.

2023 Genesis GV70 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Apr 28, 2025 · ODI 11657192

The driver seat module was defective, it was replaced & is still not working properly. It works sporadically. The navigation system freezes sporadically, the instrument display panel gives incorrect information. The Speed Limit Display indicated "34" when the heated seat feature was turned on, but the posted speed limit was 55.

2022 Genesis G80 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Jul 1, 2022 · ODI 11472023

My car was originally parked outside the garage. I started the vehicle using the key fob. I began to press the remote smart parking assist button to back the car into the garage but the button was not working correctly and would not move the car. At that point, I went into the car and reversed it manually into the garage.

2024 Genesis GV80 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Oct 26, 2026 · ODI 11773733

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Genesis T47G a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the T47G repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Hyundai warranty extension on file lists the ones Hyundai has filed.

Which vehicles does T47G cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 11 model years: 2024 Genesis G80, 2023 Genesis G80, 2022 Genesis G80, 2021 Genesis G80, 2024 Genesis GV70, 2023 Genesis GV70 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: built 25 Jul 2020 – 27 Sep 2023; built 11 Mar 2021 – 14 Jun 2023; built 25 Mar 2023 – 9 Dec 2023 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
