Genesis bulletin T38G

What it saysCertain 2023-2024MY GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) and 2024MY GV70 (JK1A) vehicles may experience a call button getting stuck/no return condition. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Genesis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated May 10, 2024, received Jun 4, 2024, about the electrical system — 1 document under this number: 24-01-028G. It names 2 model years (2023–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says

2024MY GV70 (JK1A) 10 May 2023 – 30 Aug 2023 “Produced from 5/10/2023 – 8/30/2023”

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

Certain 2023-2024MY GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) and 2024MY GV70 (JK1A) vehicles may experience a call button getting stuck/no return condition. Follow the information in this bulletin for replacing the phone call button on the steering wheel.

What the document itself lists

Labour operations and the time the manufacturer allows

OperationDescriptionTime

30DA23R2Remote Call Button Replacement (Black)0.3 hrs

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (4 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Genesis’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote. Listings and prices on eBay Motors are the seller’s.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 2 model years this bulletin names have filed 90 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 17 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

ICCU failed leaving me stranded on the side of the road (thankfully not on bridge). This was supposed to have been fixed under a recall the week prior by reprogramming the computer. Genesis has not changed the ICCU so even if/when repaired, it will most likely happen again. The Genesis of Wexford, PA dealer confirmed ICCU and fuse blown.

2023 Genesis GV70 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Apr 28, 2025 · ODI 11657192

While driving an audible pop from the rear of the vehicle was heard. Upon hearing the pop the vehicle warning lights came on and a sudden loss of power reducing my maximum speed to 20 mile per hour. The electrical system failure warning came up on the screen and the car would not accelerate to over 20 miles per hour.

2024 Genesis GV70 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Mar 18, 2026 · ODI 11725201

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Genesis T38G a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the T38G repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Hyundai warranty extension on file lists the ones Hyundai has filed.

Which vehicles does T38G cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 2 model years: 2024 Genesis GV70, 2023 Genesis GV70. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: 2024MY GV70 (JK1A): built 10 May 2023 – 30 Aug 2023 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
