Ford filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Oct 28, 2025, received Nov 4, 2025, about the fuel/propulsion system. It names 3 model years (2023–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication
2023-2025 Mustang Mach-E on or after 23 Jun 2023 “Built on or after 23-Jun-2023”

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

Some 2023-2025 Mustang Mach-E vehicles equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) standard range battery (minor feature code HTHAH) built on or after 23-Jun-2023 may exhibit a condition where the displayed high voltage (HV) battery state of charge (SOC) percentage has a sudden reduction greater than 10% while driving. At low SOC, this may also result in a reduction of vehicle power with a turtle light displayed in the cluster. This concern may occur if the vehicle has not been charged to 100% for an extended period of time as this leads to an inaccurate displayed SOC. Advise customers to charge their vehicle to 100% at least once per month to reset the SOC measurement or more often if the condition persists. To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS).

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 3 model years this bulletin names have filed 179 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 6 of them name Fuel/Propulsion System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

Driving approaching a corner and suddenly the vehicle showed on screen "Stop Safely Now" coasting to a stop. Only 180 miles on car. 78 percent charge. 230 miles to empty. Once in Park couldn't move out of park. Ford towing service indicated 3 hours out. Stuck on corner in traffic at intersection in my mind a dangerous situation

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Ford SSM 54334 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the SSM 54334 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does SSM 54334 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 3 model years: 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: 2023-2025 Mustang Mach-E: built on or after 23 Jun 2023 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
