Ford bulletin SSM 54115

What it saysSome 2023-2025 F-150 and F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with minor feature code B2DAC may exhibit an inoperative rear passenger window. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Ford filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Aug 6, 2025, received Aug 12, 2025, about the electrical system. It names 15 model years (2023–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication

Some 2023-2025 F-150 and F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with minor feature code B2DAC may exhibit an inoperative rear passenger window. To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by clicking "Additional Information" under Vehicle Information or double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). This may be due to an open diode in the window switch. To correct the condition, replace the window switch of the affected window. If the condition persists, continue with normal diagnostics outside of this article. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 501-11. For claiming, use causal part 14529 and labor operation 14529A of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 12 model years this bulletin names have filed 1,091 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 306 of them name Electrical System, Visibility/Wiper — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2023 Ford F-150, the 13 owners who gave an odometer reading for Electrical System reported it at a median of 10,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

Front panel of the sunroof randomly shattered after closing the door to enter. The truck was in park. Ford says it must’ve been a rock or damage to it since glass doesn’t randomly shatter but there wasn’t any. Truck is less than a year old and 10,000 miles. Truck is currently at the dealership while I figure out options/warranties.

Issue #1: Rain Sensing Wiper function is completely inoperable. Wipers must be operated manually. Issue #2: Blinker stalk becomes stuck in off and on positions. This malfunction has put myself and others at risk because the vehicle, at times, is unable to inform others on the road of the appropriate vehicle lane change.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Ford SSM 54115 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the SSM 54115 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does SSM 54115 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 15 model years: 2025 Ford F-150, 2024 Ford F-150, 2023 Ford F-150, 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty, 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty, 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
