GM service campaign N252502891

What it saysCertain vehicles listed above may have a condition in which the internal differential nut was cross threaded or missing during assembly. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

GM filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Jul 16, 2025, about the engine. It names 8 model years across Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Brightdrop (2024–2025). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Labour operation and the time the manufacturer allows

OperationDescriptionTime
9107975Inspect VIN in IVH, No Further Action Required0.2 hrs

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (5 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches GM’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 6 model years this bulletin names have filed 767 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 265 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, the 22 owners who gave an odometer reading for Engine reported it at a median of 11,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

I’m filing this safety complaint in addition to a previous complaint, 11678151. which occurred on August 1, 2025. On Friday, August 22, 2025, I experienced a 2nd Traction Control alert and engine failure lights on my 2026 Sierra Denali Ultimate truck which again caused the acceleration to drastically decline while driving home from work.

2025 GMC Sierra · Engine · filed with NHTSA Aug 24, 2025 · ODI 11682678

My engine had a malfunction. My safety was put at risk due to not knowing if the vehicle would stop before I was able to safely get it to be checked. The dealer has been confirmed by the dealer as engine failure due to bearing failure. This was determined by metal pieces in the oil pan.

2025 Cadillac Escalade · Engine · filed with NHTSA Oct 20, 2026 · ODI 11772545

Transmission & engine failure. Press the gas and it doesn’t move the car-feels as if it is trying to change gears and it isn’t working. Car under warranty & still not working. Been to the dealership multiple times and they are unable to fix the issue. No warning signs

2024 Chevrolet Blazer · Engine · filed with NHTSA Oct 28, 2025 · ODI 11696006

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is GM N252502891 a recall?

No. A service campaign is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the N252502891 repair free?

A service campaign is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Which vehicles does N252502891 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 8 model years across 4 brands (Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Brightdrop): 2025 Cadillac Escalade, 2025 Cadillac Lyriq, 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, 2025 GMC Sierra and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
