Audi bulletin TSB_2061397_2

What it saysThis bulletin provides information about voice recognition performance, and bluetooth call quality issues on the other end of the line. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Dec 3, 2025, received Jan 7, 2026, about the electrical system. It names 38 model years (2016–2021). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 37 model years this bulletin names have filed 420 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 64 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

In 4/2024 car wouldn’t start. Took to Audi for new battery and was told Water pump failed so it was replaced with delays. In 3/2025 noticed no heat and car took a long time to warm up. Took back to dealership replaced thermostat. Still no heat so I was told ok to drive but need to flush heater core to fix heat issue for $3500.

2016 Audi Q3 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Oct 16, 2025 · ODI 11693736

The vehicle pre-sense stopped the vehicle due to the detection of an object however, there was no object. This happened going forward and in reverse multiple times, causing the car to come to a sudden, abrupt stop even at speeds in excess of 30mph. This resulting in my teen daughter having bruising from the seat belt.

2018 Audi A3 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Apr 12, 2024 · ODI 11582606

The entire air conditioning system had to be replaced at the tune of $2422. The car is only 5 1/2 years old and it was not covered under warranty. I have researched this issue online and there are numerous people complaining about this very same issue. Why haven't a recall been campaigned?

2018 Audi Q3 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Feb 2, 2024 · ODI 11569605

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi TSB_2061397_2 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the TSB_2061397_2 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does TSB_2061397_2 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 38 model years: 2020 Audi A3, 2019 Audi A3, 2018 Audi A3, 2017 Audi A3, 2016 Audi A3, 2017 Audi A5 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
