Audi bulletin A6924082073566_1

What it saysThis repair authorization requests that technicians contact the Technical Assistance Center in instances where the Airbag warning lamp is on, DTC B101704, B103604. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Apr 3, 2024, received May 6, 2024, about the air bags. It names 61 model years (2021–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

We have a leased 2023 Audi Q5 that has been to the Audi Service Department twice so far to determine the source of the problem with our SOS sensor, which turns on randomly and now stays on and won't turn off. The first time, on April 23rd, Audi Service did not address the issue because they forgot to.

Purchased brand new 5/11/22. A few days later my air bag warning light came on so I made an appointment and took my car in for service. Audi service told me that the light was in error and they fixed it.

I’ve had a Safety System Malfunction light on for sometime now. Dealership replaced a seat belt part, air bag control module, and still the light won’t go away. The car is currently with the dealership

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi A6924082073566_1 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the A6924082073566_1 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does A6924082073566_1 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 61 model years: 2024 Audi A6, 2023 Audi A6, 2022 Audi A6, 2021 Audi A6, 2024 Audi A7, 2023 Audi A7 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
