Filed with NHTSA by the people who own these cars, about the fuel system. Quoted as written, with anything identifying removed; unverified reports — what was said, not a finding that it was true.

My 2022 VW Taos suddenly began to lose acceleration and the check engine light and EPC light came on. Upon contacting the dealership, they said there is a recall on my car for the exact issues, however they do not have any parts to fix it and do not have an ETA of when it can be fixed.
Fuel/Propulsion System May 1, 2023 NHTSA owner report
I purchased this vehicle a year ago for my 17 year old daughter. The initial test drive through slow suburban streets was not sufficient to identify the major acceleration issue that has persisted while owning this car. There is a significant lag in response time when pressing the accelerator.
Fuel/Propulsion System Jan 5, 2023 NHTSA owner report
There is a major lag in throttle response after slowing then attempting to speed back up. For example, a car in front of me turns right at an intersection while in travel so I slow down. After stepping on the accelerator to speed back up, it can take 5-7 seconds before there is any response.

Vehicle from time to time without warning stalls. Engine starts shaking and we usually coast to a stop. At this time the check engine light and and other warning lights on. We shut the car off and wait few minutes and restart the car and it works fine as if nothing happened.

2022 VW TAOS 4 Motion fuel line leak; called for appointment 8/30/21 prior to receiving the Important Safety Recall Letter in mid September when the information was first told of possible fire starting under the car on the internet. First available appointment at the VW dealer was 10/6/21. Needless to say, the VW TAOS was leaking fuel.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communications

Are fuel system problems common on the 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

They are documented: NHTSA holds 63 owner complaints naming the fuel system on this model year (20% of everything owners filed about it), and 2 recalls are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.

Is there a recall for the fuel system on the 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

Yes — 2 campaigns are filed under this heading: 23V214000, 21V651000. A recall is matched by VIN; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

When do fuel system problems show up on the 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

Too few of the complaints carry an odometer reading to say. The model year's page shows the mileage curve across every system where it can.

What does NHTSA's "Fuel/Propulsion System" heading cover?

Fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
