Toyota Corolla Cross electrical problems, 2022–2026
95 of the 321 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Toyota Corolla Cross 2022–2026 name the electrical system (NHTSA’s “Electrical System” heading — wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading). The loudest years: 2023 (68), 2024 (13), 2022 (8). Filed under the same heading across these years: 5 manufacturer bulletins. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the electrical system. Nothing here is a rate.

In owners’ own words

Purchased a Toyota Corolla Cross 2023 on April 14th. Was very excited until I began noticing when the “Automated Start Stop” system began to engage at times, when I had the system supposedly off. I took it to the dealership where they tried to reenact the problem and nothing happened, they assumed it was user error.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned: I was stopped at a red light for about 60 seconds, and the engine's Auto Start-Stop feature was engaged (engine automatically shut off while idling at the traffic light). As the light turned green, I took my foot off the brake, and the engine did not start again.
I had left work less than 2 miles away. I was sitting at red light. The light turn green I took my foot off brake my screen went black and power failed. I put it in park and it restart. Power came back on. I turn off A button and drove 22 miles home with no known issues. No warning lights had came on.

I was driving on in Miami, FL. As I stopped at a red light, the STOP/START process powered the car down. Then, all systems turned off. I put the car in park and turned the key, the engine would not turn over. I was stranded in the middle of traffic. To no avail, I tried to start the engine at least five times.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Toyota Corolla Cross years have the most electrical complaints?
2023, 68; 2024, 13; 2022, 8. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2023 (39%).
Is there a recall for the electrical system on the Toyota Corolla Cross?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading on any of these model years. A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do electrical problems show up on the Toyota Corolla Cross?
Too few of the complaints carry an odometer reading to say.
What does NHTSA's "Electrical System" heading cover?
Wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
