Tesla Model Y lane-keeping problems, 2019–2027
440 of the 4,200 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Tesla Model Y 2019–2027 name the lane-keeping system (NHTSA’s “Lane Departure” heading — lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist). The loudest years: 2023 (93), 2021 (93), 2022 (81). Filed under the same heading across these years: 1 recall campaign. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the lane-keeping system. Nothing here is a rate.

Since the recall earlier this year on for the Autopilot, I now have a car that is actually more dangerous as it emits a very jarring audible warning when I engage the Autosteer option. This has actually caused me to jump in my seat and cause me to turn the wheel creating a dangerous situation.
The back camera of the Tesla model y does not provide necessary image quality to identify any objects/persons of cross traffic when reversing the vehicle. In one incident I was about to hit a person behind the vehicle as there was no proper cross traffic alerting and no proper camera view.

On June 2 around 3:40pm CDT while driving in cruise control on I-43 in Wisconsin around 70mph my car suddenly went into corrective lane assist with warning alerts and steering wheel action. There was no reason this should have happened
Ever since a recent update to my car, it has become far more difficult to keep the ADAS features active. It is incredibly intrusive, even just glancing at the screen to see what message it's telling me leads to the car threatening to cut off all driver assistance features. This is so dangerous.
