Counts are owner reports to NHTSA, not verified defects, and scale with how many of these were sold; nothing here is a rate. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so “Power Train” means the same area of the vehicle, not one fault.

My 2017 Renegade Jeep is stalling at stop lights, stop signs, or as I accelerate to leave a stop light or stop sign. I almost got hit by a 18 wheeler truck 2 weeks ago because the Jeep stalled and I could not move out of the truck's way. My Jeep also accelerates, or loses power. It is rattling since 3 months after I bought it.
At approximately 31,500 miles transmission is making a loud clunk sound and jars the vehicle. So loud and hard it startles the passengers. I believe it is happening between 20-30 MPH and when I remove accelerator and begin to coast. It seems to be when I coast downhill. No warning lights display on the dash.
My Renegade has repeatedly stalled out while driving. Unfortunately this last time resulted in a minor accident. The Jeep has less 16k miles on it. I have notified fca but until it is resolved I have no vehicle. Consumer stated he had a vehicle control issue while making a turn engine stalled and hit a guardrail.

When the contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle, the check engine and oil warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,602
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. While driving 35 MPH, the contact shifted gears and the transmission seized. Shortly after, the vehicle stalled and "shift to desired gear" appeared on the instrument panel. When the contact took the vehicle to the same dealer in the past, he was informed that there were no failures.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre transmission and drivetrain problems common on the 2017 Jeep Renegade?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 95 owner complaints naming the transmission and drivetrain on this model year (17% of everything owners filed about it), and 47 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the transmission and drivetrain on the 2017 Jeep Renegade?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 3 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do transmission and drivetrain problems show up on the 2017 Jeep Renegade?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 25,000 miles; half of them between 12,000 and 40,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Power Train" heading cover?
The transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axles and differentials — NHTSA files them under one heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
