I purchased a 2019 certified pre-owned Honda Accord Touring Hybrid in February, 2022. This was the second Honda Accord Touring Hybrid I've owned, so I was already very familiar with this vehicle.
Noticed there is already an investigation open. My car is literally afraid of shadows and other objects that just aren't there. It will slam on the brakes as it detects that there is an impending crash despite any cars near me. It has almost caused 3 accidents with the cars behind me.
I was driving on a local urban street, probably 20 mph, when car suddenly braked hard for no reason. My foot was not on the brake at the time, and there was not a car or potential collision in front of me to trigger this. I reported the problem to the dealer, and they performed a software update.
When driving on the Interstate Highway with the adaptive cruise control, on rare and unpredictable time, the car will suddenly flash the brake warning and brake and/or rapidly slow down. Pressing the accelerator will override the issue. However, it is not reproducible. It can occur any time of day or night
Collision mitigation braking system error reported on the car it says to take to the dealer for service also says that adaptive cruise could be affected also. I read that many other owners are reporting this issue

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre automatic emergency braking problems common on the 2019 Honda Accord?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 220 owner complaints naming the automatic emergency braking on this model year (28% of everything owners filed about it), and 2 NHTSA investigations are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the automatic emergency braking on the 2019 Honda Accord?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 6 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do automatic emergency braking problems show up on the 2019 Honda Accord?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 22,000 miles; half of them between 14,000 and 39,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Forward Collision Avoidance" heading cover?
Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, including phantom braking. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
