In owners’ own words

My F-250 has some terrible steering issues when I hit a bump and much worse when I hit a series of bumps. The front end starts bouncing and the truck will basically bounce sideways. The first time it happened I was prepared and come close to losing control. It will bounce or wobble going 40 MPH just as bad as doing 55 or 60.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. While driving 69 MPH over a bump in the road, the vehicle exhibited the "death wobble" from the front suspension. The contact was unable to regain control until the speed was under 40 MPH.
At 36,000 miles 2017 F-250 Sd began to exhibit extreme loss of control with steering after traveling over uneven roadway. Road bumps caused violent shaking of the steering at speeds in excess of 35 MPH. (death wobble).
Violent steering oscillation aka "death wobble. Truck has 18k miles and is unsafe to drive normally. After hitting a small bump in the road at speeds above 35 MPH the truck will shake side to side and up and down until the truck is slowed down under 20 or in some cases the truck must come to a full stop.
I have a 2017 Ford F-250 that has "death wobble" issues. It becomes uncontrollable if it hits rough pavement on the highway, usually at 70 MPH. If the truck begins to shake it is uncontrollable. It is nearly impossible to steer. The only way to regain control is to slow to about 20 MPH or stop completely.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre steering problems common on the 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 717 owner complaints naming the steering on this model year (62% of everything owners filed about it), and 20 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the steering on the 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 14 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do steering problems show up on the 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 28,000 miles; half of them between 20,000 and 39,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Steering" heading cover?
The steering column, rack, pump and power assist. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
