Filed with NHTSA by the people who own these cars, about the engine. Quoted as written, with anything identifying removed; unverified reports — what was said, not a finding that it was true.

About 1 week ago my check engine light came on. The code reader said it was a p302, misfire in #2. The vehicle idles rough and sometimes stalls while driving. Other 2017 Grand caravans have had a recall for a very similar reason, but my VIN is not included in that. I feel it should be.
Engine at 86,000 miles Feb 3, 2020 NHTSA owner report
Loss of engine power while driving. When it happens, there's also loss of powering steering and brakes. This has happened more than a dozen times on city streets and highways. It's been taken to a Dodge dealership. I'm told they can't find the problem. It's happened twice this week going to work on january 28 & 29, 2020
Engine at 60,000 miles Jan 31, 2020 NHTSA owner report
While entering freeway onramp engine power reduced and vehicle following had to swerve to avoid collision. Believe engine output lessened by cylinder 2 misfire issue common with Dodge engines creating failures and loss of compression and reduced power with sporadic loss of acceleration when needed
Engine at 82,000 miles Dec 1, 2019 NHTSA owner report
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving approximately 38 MPH, the vehicle started to misfire and hesitate. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated.

Vehical has a code for cylander 4 misfire. This causes my remote start to not work and the vehical is running rough. New spark plugs did not fix the problem. For a two year old vehical it should be reliable but I find myself relying on my 88 s10 more than our two year old van.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communications

Are engine problems common on the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan?

They are documented: NHTSA holds 60 owner complaints naming the engine on this model year (14% of everything owners filed about it), and 23 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.

Is there a recall for the engine on the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan?

No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 3 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.

When do engine problems show up on the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 63,111 miles; half of them between 48,000 and 81,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.

What does NHTSA's "Engine" heading cover?

The engine and its cooling system. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
