Porsche bulletin D712

What it saysParts Information - Parts Withdrawal - Brake Hose & Retainer for Brake Hose NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Porsche filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Mar 11, 2025, received Apr 7, 2025, about the service brakes. It names 5 model years (2020–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 5 model years this bulletin names have filed 277 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 26 of them name Service Brakes — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

The contact owns a 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V455000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.

2020 Porsche Taycan · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Oct 1, 2024 · ODI 11617476

When the forward collision warning activates, the braking pedal loses its effectiveness and causes the car to brake much more slowly than it should, which actually increases the chance of a collision occurring. This has happened multiple times to me in the past few weeks. It is a very dangerous problem

2023 Porsche Taycan · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA May 11, 2026 · ODI 11736999

There was a different amount of pressure needed to apply to the break when at lower speeds vs higher speeds. At lower speeds there was less responsiveness to the breaks and more pressure was required to stop the car. We brought the car to the dealer and dealer reported the car was fine.

2022 Porsche Taycan · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Jul 29, 2022 · ODI 11476620

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Porsche D712 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the D712 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Porsche warranty extension on file lists the ones Porsche has filed.

Which vehicles does D712 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 5 model years: 2024 Porsche Taycan, 2023 Porsche Taycan, 2022 Porsche Taycan, 2021 Porsche Taycan, 2020 Porsche Taycan. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
