Mercedes-Benz service campaign NCU - 2026010002

Mercedes-Benz filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Jan 23, 2026, received Jan 22, 2026, about the electrical system. It names 3 model years (2023–2025). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication

Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the drivetrain control unit software does not correspond to the current series production configuration. Consequently, the vehicle may experience temporary functional impairments, such as an increased operation of the vehicle cooling fan, no-start conditions, and various warnings and faults such as MIL or cooling system malfunction messages. All symptoms resolve following a bus idle and restart. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the drivetrain control unit software on the affected vehicles.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5; the full text comes from the manufacturer or a dealer. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. Quote it at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.
