Mercedes-Benz bulletin NCU - 2025090004
Mercedes-Benz filed this with NHTSA as a emissions communication dated Oct 30, 2025, received Nov 4, 2025, about the electrical system. It names 6 model years (2020–2025). A emissions communication is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.
What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationIssue Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the engine control unit software does not correspond to current production specification. The affected vehicles could exhibit rough engine running and noticeable vehicle vibrations, and misfire during the catalytic heating phase, resulting in check engine Malfunction Indicator (MIL) Lamp to illuminate. Additionally, it is possible that on-board diagnostics and/or exhaust gas emissions requirements may not be fulfilled. Remedy MBUSA will conduct an emission service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the engine control unit software on the affected vehicle.
