Jeep bulletin 9100749 Rev 1

What it saysAxle seal We have observed that some JL/JT rear axle shafts are leaking oil. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Jeep filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jan 7, 2026, received Jan 14, 2026, about the power train — 2 documents under this number: 9100749 and 1 more. It names 8 model years (2023–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 8 model years this bulletin names have filed 1,497 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 267 of them name Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On 10/10/25, my 2025 Jeep received an over-the-air (OTA) software update intended for the Uconnect infotainment system. Following the update, the vehicle experienced a complete powertrain failure. It became undrivable, shut off entirely, and refused to shift out of park.

2025 Jeep Wrangler · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Oct 14, 2025

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under an unknown recall by the previous owner; however, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact examined the vehicle and became aware of some loosened fasteners.

2023 Jeep Gladiator · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Apr 30, 2024

Premature clutch failure around 20,000 miles. It happened the first time the 4WD was engaged. Vehicle is in limp mode and cannot drive. There were no warnings prior to the issue. Previous year models have had NHTSA recalls issued for clutch failures

2024 Jeep Gladiator · Power Train · filed with NHTSA May 13, 2026

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Jeep 9100749 Rev 1 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 9100749 Rev 1 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 9100749 Rev 1 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 8 model years: 2026 Jeep Gladiator, 2025 Jeep Gladiator, 2024 Jeep Gladiator, 2023 Jeep Gladiator, 2026 Jeep Wrangler, 2025 Jeep Wrangler and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
