Genesis bulletin 23-EE-013G

What it saysThis bulletin is issued to provide the extended battery diagnosis procedure using GDS. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Genesis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Dec 15, 2023, received Dec 22, 2023, about the electrical system. It names 20 model years (2019–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 20 model years this bulletin names have filed 585 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 248 of them name Electrical System, Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

ICCU failed leaving me stranded on the side of the road (thankfully not on bridge). This was supposed to have been fixed under a recall the week prior by reprogramming the computer. Genesis has not changed the ICCU so even if/when repaired, it will most likely happen again. The Genesis of Wexford, PA dealer confirmed ICCU and fuse blown.

2023 Genesis GV70 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Apr 28, 2025

I moved to Reno, NV where I need to merge onto route 80 everyday. During several attempts to merge onto 80, my Genesis GV70 stopped accelerating at 42 MPH, roughly 5000 RPMs and I was almost rear ended on two occasions because of the 'stalling' of the vehicle. An 18 wheel truck almost hit me because I couldn't accelerate past 42 MPH.

2024 Genesis GV70 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Feb 14, 2026

I was driving down the interstate at 70 mph when my gas pedal stopped responding and the car was slowing down. Suddenly the car started beeping at me saying the engine was shut off and I needed to put it into park or neutral immediately. This happened a week prior on a 45 mph road and I was able to restart the car with no issues.

2022 Genesis GV70 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Aug 23, 2023

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Genesis 23-EE-013G a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 23-EE-013G repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 23-EE-013G cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 20 model years: 2023 Genesis G70, 2022 Genesis G70, 2021 Genesis G70, 2020 Genesis G70, 2019 Genesis G70, 2024 Genesis G80 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
