Stellantis bulletin S1705000002 REV. A

What it saysFront Brake Pulsation and/or Clunk Noise NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Stellantis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Oct 16, 2026, received Jan 28, 2025, about the service brakes — 2 documents under this number: S1705000002 REV. B and 1 more. It names 26 model years across Dodge and Alfa Romeo (2017–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 26 model years this bulletin names have filed 620 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 64 of them name Service Brakes — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

There was a issue with my vehicle turning on fine then once I got down the road it started to not go it completely stopped in mid drive on me and the engine light and oil light going crazy. It started sounding bad this has happened 3 times it shouldn't be happening on a 2018 that's been up to date on maintenance.

The contact owns a 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the braking system malfunctioned while depressing the brake pedal and the vehicle would not immediately stop, causing an extended braking distance. On occasion, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop.

2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Jul 13, 2021 · ODI 11424666

I have found a huge barrier to getting my brakes serviced as Alfa Romeo makes it impossible for an independent mechanic to acquire the necessary brake hardware to keep my car safely on the road. 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale already has a formal federal safety recall regarding a brake pedal collapse defect.

2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Jun 24, 2026 · ODI 11746209

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Stellantis S1705000002 REV. A a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the S1705000002 REV. A repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Stellantis warranty extension on file lists the ones Stellantis has filed.

Which vehicles does S1705000002 REV. A cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 26 model years across 2 brands (Dodge and Alfa Romeo): 2026 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
