GM service campaign N242450160
What it saysCertain vehicles may have a condition where the high pressure fuel pump is potentially inoperative. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
GM filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Nov 4, 2024, about the fuel/propulsion system. It names 3 model years across Chevrolet and GMC (2023–2024). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (3 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches GM’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.
The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 3 model years this bulletin names have filed 332 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 100 of them name Fuel/Propulsion System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On , about 400 miles into our trip heading South on , the Engine Reduced Power Warning came on. We were in the fast lane traveling at 70 MPH,the car immediately slowed to about 30 mph. There was no prior warning or check engine light. Vehicles behind us had to swerved and change lanes to avoid hitting us.
2024 Chevrolet Equinox · Fuel/Propulsion System · filed with NHTSA Jul 8, 2025 · ODI 11672055
Traveling 75 mph on a 3-lane highway when the car jerked (as if it was downshifted), started to rattle, and then ultimately a CE came on with the "Engine Power Reduced" warning on the dash. After a few close calls trying to merge over to the breakdown lane, I was able to rest safely and call for a tow.
2023 Chevrolet Equinox · Fuel/Propulsion System · filed with NHTSA Jan 10, 2024 · ODI 11564698
Car reduced speed and smells of gas. Will not crank and will stall immediately and just stops immediately. Car has only 30,000 miles and it has stalled out for the second time with the same issue. The first time the car stalled on the freeway and I was almost hit from the back.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is GM N242450160 a recall?
No. A service campaign is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the N242450160 repair free?
A service campaign is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.
Which vehicles does N242450160 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 3 model years across 2 brands (Chevrolet and GMC): 2024 Chevrolet Equinox, 2023 Chevrolet Equinox, 2023 GMC Terrain. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
