GM bulletin 24-NA-045

What it saysThis informational bulletin provides information on Pop/Creak Type Noise While Sitting Stationary and Turning Steering Wheel with Brakes Applied. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

GM filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Dec 19, 2024, received Mar 15, 2024, about the service brakes — 3 documents under this number. It names 11 model years across Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac (2022–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

One page for every brand it was filed under. Each brand’s bulletins: Chevrolet · GMC · Cadillac.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 8 model years this bulletin names have filed 1,010 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 12 of them name Service Brakes, Steering, Suspension — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

After the latest update from the Dealer, the integrated trailer brake module no longer shows an output of how much power it's applying to the trailer brake system. It just stays blank. I can tell that the brakes actually are being applied, however not having indication of them being applied and how much pressure is applied is concerning

2024 GMC Sierra · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Jun 2, 2026

During the morning drive, while in one pedal driving mode, the need to apply more brake due to a quick change of traffic lights occurred. The brakes felt hard and the vehicle did not feel like it was stopping as quickly as it normally would. When I parked the vehicle and exited no warning lights or other items were shown on the dash.

2024 GMC Hummer EV · Service Brakes · filed with NHTSA Aug 25, 2026

In August of 2025 I purchased a Chevy MD 5500 from Paul Masse, Inc., in RI. From the time of delivery the truck had a serious shake while operating. Paul Masse, Inc., told me that the tires had flat spots from sitting on the lot prior to purchase. As time went on the dealership placed two new sets of tires on the truck.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is GM 24-NA-045 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 24-NA-045 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 24-NA-045 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 11 model years across 3 brands (Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac): 2025 Cadillac Escalade, 2025 Chevrolet Silverado, 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, 2025 GMC Hummer EV, 2024 GMC Hummer EV, 2023 GMC Hummer EV and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
