What it saysThis Preliminary information communicates that a service door latch system message maybe displayed without any related DTC's. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Cadillac filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Aug 15, 2024, about the structure. It names 10 model years (2020–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 10 model years this bulletin names have filed 128 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 16 of them name Structure — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
issue with all doors and trunk moldings - after heavy rain or after washing the car, the frames inside all doors and trunk have water. This will cause rust and body rot over time. Spoke with the dealer yesterday regarding this issue and was told that all cars have issues and I am not alone complaining about this issue
2024 Cadillac CT5 · Structure · filed with NHTSA Apr 26, 2025 · ODI 11656917
Door handle opening mechanism has not been working correctly for over a year. Multiple attempts to open the door will finally work and the door will open. This is a life safety issue that I have taken up with GM multiple times now and they refused to cover the vehicle.
2020 Cadillac CT5 · Structure · filed with NHTSA Nov 26, 2025 · ODI 11701649
My driver side door is unable to open due to the pressure pad. This is a known problem to Cadillac. I have already had to have 2 door handles replaced on the passenger side. It is unsafe to not be able to enter the driver seat of your vehicle in an emergency
2022 Cadillac CT5 · Structure · filed with NHTSA May 27, 2026 · ODI 11740325
A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Cadillac PIC6555 a recall?
No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the PIC6555 repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every GM warranty extension on file lists the ones GM has filed.
Which vehicles does PIC6555 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 10 model years: 2024 Cadillac CT4, 2023 Cadillac CT4, 2022 Cadillac CT4, 2021 Cadillac CT4, 2020 Cadillac CT4, 2024 Cadillac CT5 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
