What it saysFront Exterior Lighting Steamed Up/Leaks | 12-24MY. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Bentley filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jun 30, 2025, received Jul 8, 2025, about the visibility/wiper. It names 36 model years (2016–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 28 model years this bulletin names have filed 19 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 7 of them name Electrical System, Exterior Lighting, Visibility/Wiper — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

There’s sudden PDC fault arises, the vehicle’s all radar system is broken. Sometimes, the dashboard will be turned off during driving. WHEN PDC fault appears, the rear view camera when parking does not appear. Very dangerous while manipulating the car. This is a common issue in 2020 Bentley Flying Spur. I’ve done research with engineers.

2020 Bentley Flying Spur · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Dec 9, 2025 · ODI 11703959

The front door wiring has design issues in 2020 Bentley Flying Spur. The length of the wire related to keyless entry is not enough. Thus cause the front doors keyless entry/unlock and lock the car through door handles malfunction. This is a very common issue you can searched on internet that many 2020 Flying Spur are having this problem.

2020 Bentley Flying Spur · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Dec 9, 2025 · ODI 11703964

The bad design of the Bentley Bentayga ventilation system at the front causes the screen to steam up all the time in humid weather making it very hard to see out the front window. You clean it and it is steamed again in 5 seconds. I have nearly hit a pedestrian because of the bad visibility on a relatively humid virginia day.

2017 Bentley Bentayga · Visibility/Wiper · filed with NHTSA Aug 31, 2017 · ODI 11020722

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Bentley 2050542/8 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 2050542/8 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 2050542/8 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 36 model years: 2024 Bentley Bentayga, 2023 Bentley Bentayga, 2022 Bentley Bentayga, 2021 Bentley Bentayga, 2020 Bentley Bentayga, 2019 Bentley Bentayga and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
