What it saysCustomer Satisfaction Notification 64C – Powertrain Control Module Wiring Harness- Dealer Notification NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Alfa Romeo filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Jan 6, 2026, received Jan 14, 2026, about the electrical system — 1 document under this number: 64C Combo. It names 9 model years (2017–2025). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (10 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Alfa Romeo’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.
The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 9 model years this bulletin names have filed 281 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 71 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off. During the failure, the check engine and auto stop/start warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that an unknown relay needed to be replaced.
2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Jun 25, 2021 · ODI 11422256
The vehicle intermittently fails to start or stop when using the Start/Stop push button. This is a critical safety concern. If the vehicle cannot be reliably started or stopped, and its ignition system operates unpredictably, it may fail during use, in traffic, or fail to respond in emergency scenarios.
2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Oct 28, 2025 · ODI 11695964
Due to a faulty starter relay, my Alfa Romeo Giulia would intermittently not start or restart. The dashboard illuminated properly but the starter did not engage and the engine did not attempt to crank. Afterwards, a warning lamp would sometimes appear saying "auto start/stop unavailable".
2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Oct 21, 2021 · ODI 11437604
A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Alfa Romeo 64C a recall?
No. A service campaign is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the 64C repair free?
A service campaign is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.
Which vehicles does 64C cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 9 model years: 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
