Alfa Romeo warranty extension 22D Combo Rev1
What it says22D - On Board Diagnostics - Dealer Notification (Revision 1) NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Alfa Romeo filed this with NHTSA as a warranty extension dated Sep 10, 2026, received Sep 17, 2026, about the electrical system. It names 11 model years (2017–2022). A warranty extension is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (7 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Alfa Romeo’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.
The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 11 model years this bulletin names have filed 475 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 131 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the 13 owners who gave an odometer reading for Electrical System reported it at a median of 28,957 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.
My car stopped and would not turn back on while in the middle lane of a busy highway. We were stopped on the highway >20min until police arrived to block the lanes so we could safely exit the vehicle and a tow truck could safely retrieve it. The ground strap underneath the vehicle that grounds the main engine harness was broken.

The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off. During the failure, the check engine and auto stop/start warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that an unknown relay needed to be replaced.

For over 12 months since October 2025, the vehicle has intermittently (and progressively more regularly) thrown multiple, concurrent dash warnings/error messages for multiple vehicle functions, followed typically by (and without driver input) shifting the vehicle automatically into Neutral or Park while on and in gear.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Alfa Romeo 22D Combo Rev1 a recall?
No. A warranty extension is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the 22D Combo Rev1 repair free?
A warranty extension is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.
Which vehicles does 22D Combo Rev1 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 11 model years: 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
