Acura RDX visibility and wiper problems, 2016–2026
246 of the 1,188 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Acura RDX 2016–2026 name the wipers, glass and mirrors (NHTSA’s “Visibility/Wiper” heading — windshields, wipers, washers, mirrors and defrosters). The loudest years: 2019 (113), 2020 (101), 2021 (14). Filed under the same heading across these years: no document yet. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the wipers, glass and mirrors. Nothing here is a rate.
When the visibility and wiper complaints were filed, and at what mileage
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseFiled per calendar year, every model year together: 2019: 1 · 2020: 1 · 2021: 5 · 2022: 24 · 2023: 28 · 2024: 79 · 2025: 61 · 2026: 47
Across the model years, half of the 46 owners who gave an odometer reading reported the visibility and wiper problem between 28,000 and 68,000 miles. A median of reports, not the life of a part.
In owners’ own words

The contact owns a 2019 Acura RDX. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, he closed the front driver’s side door and the rear window glass exploded. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer was not notified of the failure.
While I was reversing my car on my driveway, I heard the loud pop sound and back window was shattered. My car did not hit any thing. It just happened without any impact. I have been told that this is an ongoing problem with this vehicle and manufacturer has back order for the windows and no time frame when it can be replaced.
The sunroof/moonroof was closed and it exploded/shattered going down a major interstate highway doing 65mph. It sounded like a bomb or someone shot a gun at me. Glass is everywhere and its not cleaned up. Nothing was thrown at vehicle. There are no recalls on this vehicle. No warning lights or messages when it happened.
There is an issue with the windshield. When driving into direct sun the total windshield appears to be pitted and visibility is hampered. I reported this to Southern Motors in Savannah and the service manager photographed the windshield and said he would follow up.
The contact's sister owns a 2021 Acura RDX. The contact stated that the rear glass had shattered while the vehicle was parked in the driveway. The dealer was contacted and advised that the earliest availability to replace the glass was in 3-4 days.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Acura RDX years have the most visibility and wiper complaints?
2019, 113; 2020, 101; 2021, 14. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2022 (39%).
Is there a recall for the wipers, glass and mirrors on the Acura RDX?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading on any of these model years. A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do visibility and wiper problems show up on the Acura RDX?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 50,000 miles across the model years; half of them between 28,000 and 68,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Visibility/Wiper" heading cover?
Windshields, wipers, washers, mirrors and defrosters. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
