Twice this vehicle has shut down while driving. In march while on an interstate going 70 MPH. And one time excelling while leaving an exit ramp. I rolled off to side of road and put in park. Gave it a test and it then restarted
Have had my 2019 Volkswagen sel r line 4 motion for less than a month with only 2,000 miles on it. Was driving down the road not 20 minutes later on route 66 the coolant light came on telling US it was low and needed to be checked. We pulled over and the overflow tank was empty.

When the vehicle comes to a stop and the auto start/stop activates, the vehicle will sometimes not auto restart and will display, "please manually restart the engine". In order to follow the prompts and start the vehicle again, you have to put the vehicle in park and push the ignition button.
Coolant level is low. They said is a leak on it which is going inside the engine. This a major major issue for this brand and expensive car. My car had only 8400 miles on it. One year old. This is on unacceptable, for so much money I payed.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre engine problems common on the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 60 owner complaints naming the engine on this model year (12% of everything owners filed about it), and 207 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the engine on the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 12 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do engine problems show up on the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 5,000 miles; half of them between 1,000 and 13,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Engine" heading cover?
The engine and its cooling system. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
