Problem Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2019 Mercedes Benz Sprinter vehicles. The chassis may be missing the additional stabilization required for its cargo capacity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems." Risk If the vehicle is operated without the additional stabilization, vehicle handling could be affected, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will upgrade the chassis by replacing the stabilizer bar on the front axle and replacing shock absorbers and installing a stabilizer bar on the rear axle, free of charge. DVUSA issued owners an interim notification on September 18, 2020. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS3FAHRBA.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. VS3FAHRBA is the number Mercedes-Benz assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 20V427000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Is VS3FAHRBA the same recall as 20V427000?

Which vehicles does VS3FAHRBA cover?

2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 4 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.
