Kia EV9 electrical problems, 2024–2026
119 of the 252 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Kia EV9 2024–2026 name the electrical system (NHTSA’s “Electrical System” heading — wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading). The loudest years: 2024 (104), 2026 (12), 2025 (3). Filed under the same heading across these years: 9 manufacturer bulletins, 4 recall campaigns. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.
Kia EV9 electrical problems by model year

| Model year | Complaints naming the electrical system | Share of the year’s | Typically at | On file under the heading | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 12 | 46% | — | 26 TSBs · 1 recall | the year → |
| 2025 | 3 | 16% | — | 37 TSBs · 2 recalls | the year → |
| 2024 in depth | 104 | 50% | — | 61 TSBs · 2 recalls | the record → |
Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the electrical system. Nothing here is a rate.

In owners’ own words

When the car is turned on the speedometer display is blank. Further, the indicators of the car does not function as well. HVAC and info entertainment display worked as expected
I went out from my house and got in my vehicle, turned it on, and the instrument cluster screen was not working. I turned off the car and turned it back on and the screen was still not working; I did not have any way to display my speed on the dash.
I was sold a vehicle with a manufacturer defect. At purchase there was a loud wind noise coming from sunroof. I was promised a swift service department visit to realign the sunroof. At service visit ten days later the dealership replaced sunroof and threw electrical error codes B271100.
ICCU failure. Total and sudden loss of power. No acceleration. "Limp mode" activated for 5 miles before total shut down
The infotainment screen, including backup camera views, randomly glitches and then goes completely dark with no ability to view anything on the screen. The screen has been reset and software reloaded, but the glitch continues. Next, the screen was replaced but the glitch continues. This has been occurring since the beginning of June 2026
