Kia EV6 electrical problems, 2022–2026
407 of the 543 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Kia EV6 2022–2026 name the electrical system (NHTSA’s “Electrical System” heading — wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading). The loudest years: 2022 (211), 2023 (103), 2024 (54). Filed under the same heading across these years: 8 manufacturer bulletins, 3 recall campaigns, 2 NHTSA investigations. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the electrical system. Nothing here is a rate.
When the electrical complaints were filed, and at what mileage

In owners’ own words

While operating and driving on a busy two lane roadway, about an hour in to a two hour trip, the vehicle displayed “check electrical system” message without warning, then quickly lost power, rendering the car only able to drive at 25 mph for a brief moment, and then, just as quickly, shut down completely and did not operate.
There have been multiple failures to charge on AC 220v current at both 9 and 8kW. Dealer states there is a fault where the battery management system or charging system is overheating which causes the vehicle to stop charging
The contact owns a 2023 Kia EV6. The vehicle was parked and turned off when the contact opened the door and smelled burned rubber and noticed a hole about ¾ inch deep in the front driver’s seat the size of a nickel. The contact stated that the USB charging port on the vehicle was still active and caused the USB cable to catch on fire.
Hello NHTSA, I hope this message finds you well. I would like to provide specific details regarding the issues with my car as per your guidelines: 1. **Failed Component or System:** The charging system has malfunctioned, leading to extreme range decrease, constant charging failures, inconsistent charging speeds, and signs of overheating.
Kia has a known ICCU issue with several of their electric vehicles. Mine went out yesterday creating an extremely dangerous situation on the road. After it blew, I lost the ability to accelerate or steer. This was obviously very scary for me and the drivers around me. I feel very lucky to have not been hit by another car.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Kia EV6 years have the most electrical complaints?
2022, 211; 2023, 103; 2024, 54. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2022 (76%).
Is there a recall for the electrical system on the Kia EV6?
Yes — 3 campaigns are filed under this heading across these model years: 26V431000 (2024), 24V867000 (2024), 24V200000 (2024). A recall is matched by VIN, and applies to specific years; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
When do electrical problems show up on the Kia EV6?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 16,030 miles across the model years; half of them between 8,000 and 30,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Electrical System" heading cover?
Wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
