2024 Honda Prologue transmission and drivetrain problems
154 of the 841 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the 2024 Honda Prologue name the transmission and drivetrain (NHTSA’s “Power Train” heading — the transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axles and differentials — NHTSA files them under one heading). Filed under the same heading: 3 manufacturer bulletins. Every figure below is a document in a federal file, linked; none is a failure rate, and none is a verdict on any one car.

Counts are owner reports to NHTSA, not verified defects, and scale with how many of these were sold; nothing here is a rate. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so “Power Train” means the same area of the vehicle, not one fault.

When turning left or right i am getting a clicking noise dealership is ordering 2 drive axels parts on back order no eta!
Front CV axles are bad. Honda dealer diagnosed front left axle as needing to be replaced. Front right axle is now behaving the same. Parts are on back order. I am forced to live with a loud/malfunctioning CV axle
The Propulsion System Error warning light (a red car icon with an exclamation point) has appeared multiple times since I purchased the vehicle. This has occurred while driving, charging, or turning on the vehicle, with no apparent cause or trigger that I can identify.
Car makes clicking/knocking noise in front end when turning left or right. Took to dealership and they said it is likely CV joint issue. Part is on back order and awaiting part for replacement. Unclear how safe it is to drive in this condition. Occurred with around 2000 miles on the car
I have 9,500 miles on my car and within the last week every time I make a turn (either direction) there is a very loud clicking/grinding noise coming from the CV Axel. I’ve noticed it’s a common theme for Prologues & have been told it’s safe to drive but there are currently no remedies for this problem.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre transmission and drivetrain problems common on the 2024 Honda Prologue?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 154 owner complaints naming the transmission and drivetrain on this model year (18% of everything owners filed about it), and 3 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the transmission and drivetrain on the 2024 Honda Prologue?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 3 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do transmission and drivetrain problems show up on the 2024 Honda Prologue?
Too few of the complaints carry an odometer reading to say. The model year's page shows the mileage curve across every system where it can.
What does NHTSA's "Power Train" heading cover?
The transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axles and differentials — NHTSA files them under one heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
