TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS SERVICE CAMPAIGN: EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (SC320) - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides information to replace the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Assembly on certain 2024MY Kia vehicles listed in the table below. Kia has become aware that the EGR Valve Assembly in the subject vehicles may not have been manufactured to Kia’s specifications. This condition may cause the vehicle to release air pollutants which exceed Federal and California standards. As a result, the subject vehicles may exhibit an illumination of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with DTC(s) P040500, P064200 and/or P065200.

While attempting to park the vehicle in an angled parking spot I was pressing the brake and slowing to a stop. Prior to stopping with my foot still on the brake the engine revved and the vehicle surged forward hitting the car in front of me. The emergency braking did not seem to activate nor di my foot on the brake slow the car.

While navigating the highly dangerous downhill descent of the Tejon Pass, LEBEC, CA , the vehicle experienced a complete throttle disengagement. The accelerator pedal became entirely unresponsive, leaving the vehicle without power on a steep, high-speed highway descent. I was traveling with my young daughter inside the vehicle.

I have experienced two incidents of sudden, severely reduced propulsion while driving my 2024 Kia Niro Hybrid. The incidents occurred several weeks apart. During both incidents, pressing the accelerator did not produce normal acceleration.
