Infiniti bulletin REV1 R22D1 Q50_Q

What it saysISS Reprogram Voluntary Emission Recall Campaign REVISED June 10, 2023 Please discard earlier versions of this bulletin. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Infiniti filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jun 10, 2023, received Jul 11, 2023, about the engine. It names 7 model years (2016–2019). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

2017-2019 Q60 18 Aug 2015 – 29 May 2019 “Manufactured between August 18, 2015 to May 29, 2019”

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 7 model years this bulletin names have filed 239 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 75 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

While driving home, I experienced an extreme amount of white smoke coming from my exhaust. The smoke was so severe that I could barely see vehicles behind me. Because I was on the freeway and concerned about my safety and the safety of others, I pulled over when safe and had the vehicle towed home and then to an Infiniti dealership for…

2018 Infiniti Q60 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Aug 22, 2026 · ODI 11758695

The car needed new sprockets after 105K miles. I haven't seen anyone else have this problem, so my car maybe a lemon. But just in case more people start reporting it, I just want to make sure it's on record. The dealership has no idea why they'd fail, as I have had regular, full synthetic oil changes. It's a hefty repair

Internal engine mechanical issues, infiniti of bridgewater diagnosis. The engine cut off midway while driving on the highway. Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Infiniti REV1 R22D1 Q50_Q a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the REV1 R22D1 Q50_Q repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does REV1 R22D1 Q50_Q cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 7 model years: 2019 Infiniti Q50, 2018 Infiniti Q50, 2017 Infiniti Q50, 2016 Infiniti Q50, 2019 Infiniti Q60, 2018 Infiniti Q60 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: 2017-2019 Q60: built 18 Aug 2015 – 29 May 2019 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
