Genesis service campaign T58G

What it saysCertain 2025MY G80 (RG3) and GV80 (JX1) vehicles may experience difficulty with locking/unlocking the doors using the outer door handle touch sensor. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Genesis filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Oct 25, 2024, received Oct 28, 2024, about the structure — 1 document under this number: 24-01-074G. It names 1 model year (2025). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication
Built 3 Jun 2024 – 2 Jul 2024 “Produced from 06/03/2024 - 07/02/2024”
Built 10 May 2024 – 12 Aug 2024 “Produced from 05/10/2024 - 08/12/2024”

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

Certain 2025MY G80 (RG3) and GV80 (JX1) vehicles may experience difficulty with locking/unlocking the doors using the outer door handle touch sensor. This bulletin provides instructions to apply double-sided tape to the touch sensors to improve detection when moisture is present.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (6 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Genesis’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 1 model year this bulletin names have filed 20 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 2 of them name Structure — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

I exited the car, the car door was shutting, however, not all the way shut. My thumb was between the door and the body of the car at which point the soft close feature engaged, shutting my thumb in the door all the way and squeezing shut. No warning signals. Finger is badly bruised and swollen. No inspections have been done

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Genesis T58G a recall?

No. A service campaign is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the T58G repair free?

A service campaign is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Which vehicles does T58G cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 1 model year: 2025 Genesis GV80. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: built 3 Jun 2024 – 2 Jul 2024; built 10 May 2024 – 12 Aug 2024 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
