Genesis warranty extension L15G

What it saysCertain GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) and G80 Electrified (RG3 EV) vehicles may display a false warning light with Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) U151A8C and/or U151B8C when vehicle is placed into “Ready” mode. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Genesis filed this with NHTSA as a warranty extension dated Oct 2, 2026, received Oct 9, 2026, about the electrical system — 1 document under this number: 26-01-077G TSB. It names 2 model years (2026). A warranty extension is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

2026 G80 Electrified (RG3 EV) 21 Jan 2025 – 24 Jan 2025 “2026 G80 Electrified (RG3 EV) 01/21/2025 – 01/24/2025”
GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) 1 Mar 2025 – 9 Jun 2025 “GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) 03/01/2025 – 06/09/2025”

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

Certain GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) and G80 Electrified (RG3 EV) vehicles may display a false warning light with Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) U151A8C and/or U151B8C when vehicle is placed into “Ready” mode. This bulletin provides the procedure for updating the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) software to address this condition.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (6 pages), read Oct 10, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Genesis’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 2 model years this bulletin names have filed 38 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 22 of them name Electrical System, Service Brakes — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

2026 Genesis G70 2.5T RWD. The navigation system is completely gone. There is absolutely no way to get the maps or even the navigation settings menu up. On every startup, you can see a part of the screen which shows it tries to load navigation, but fails every time. There are a few critical safety issues with this.

The vehicle intermittently and unexpectedly shifts itself from Drive (D) into Park (P) while completely stopped in active traffic. When traffic moves and the accelerator is pressed, the engine revs safely in place, but the vehicle does not move because it has uncommandedly entered Park.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Genesis L15G a recall?

No. A warranty extension is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the L15G repair free?

A warranty extension is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Which vehicles does L15G cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 2 model years: 2026 Genesis G80, 2026 Genesis GV70. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: 2026 G80 Electrified (RG3 EV): built 21 Jan 2025 – 24 Jan 2025; GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV): built 1 Mar 2025 – 9 Jun 2025 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
