GM service campaign N252508340
What it saysCertain vehicles may have a condition that could cause the engine coolant control valve to fail. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
GM filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Sep 16, 2025, about the engine. It names 2 model years across Chevrolet and GMC (2023). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationPicked out of NHTSA’s summary below, word for word. The document itself is the record, and the dealer checks the VIN.
Certain vehicles may have a condition that could cause the engine coolant control valve to fail. If this condition were to occur, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light) will illuminate and a diagnostic trouble code will set. Additionally in some cases, the engine cooling fans may run after the engine is switched off. Dealers are to replace the coolant control valve as necessary. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
Trouble codes it names: P1098 all 1 read from the document itself; NHTSA’s summary names none

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (6 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches GM’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.
The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 2 model years this bulletin names have filed 901 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 417 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, the 30 owners who gave an odometer reading for Engine reported it at a median of 40,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.
Vehicle continues to go into limp mode causing us to be stranded on the side of the road. It is related to DEF injection system issues. It sounds like this is a known issue with the software. We purchased the vehicle in August and have been unable to use the truck since purchasing as it continues to leave us stranded.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.
