BMW service campaign 0061250800

What it saysThe Combined Charging Unit (CCU) may not have been built to specifications. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

BMW filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Jul 3, 2025, received Jul 28, 2025, about the electrical system — 1 document under this number: B613323. It names 2 model years (2023). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication
Built on or after 10 Feb 2023 “Produced between February 10, 2023”
G70 i7 Sedan 10 Feb 2023 – 31 May 2023 “G70 i7 Sedan February 10, 2023 – May 31, 2023”

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

The Combined Charging Unit (CCU) may not have been built to specifications.

What the document itself lists

Part the bulletin names

Part numberDescriptionQty
83 19 2 468 442BMW Antifreeze/Coolant (1 Gallon Concentrate) - HT-12 As needed—

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (5 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches BMW’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 2 model years this bulletin names have filed 55 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 21 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

The only way I could explain it was as if my brakes were failing. After joining the bmw i4 group on Facebook and having my kids record while driving. I was able to capture the issue. The vehicle drive train will malfunction causing the vehicle to move while not in motion when at a stop light. The vehicle will accelerate on its on.

2023 BMW i4 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Apr 23, 2025 · ODI 11656435

The car warning flashes “drivetrain fault”. Then after about 5 seconds the car put itself into neutral and started to slow down. I pulled off to the side of the highway before it stopped on its own . I was not able to start the car back up. I got it towed to the dealership .

2023 BMW i7 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Feb 28, 2024 · ODI 11574599

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is BMW 0061250800 a recall?

No. A service campaign is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 0061250800 repair free?

A service campaign is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Which vehicles does 0061250800 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 2 model years: 2023 BMW i4, 2023 BMW i7. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: built on or after 10 Feb 2023; G70 i7 Sedan: built 10 Feb 2023 – 31 May 2023 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
