Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Apr 6, 2026, received May 5, 2026, about the engine. It names 7 model years (2019–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 7 model years this bulletin names have filed 150 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 30 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2020 Audi Q3, the 18 owners who gave an odometer reading for Engine reported it at a median of 2,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

If driving and the vehicle is put in park then put back into gear without turning off first, the vehicle will stall. Usually happens to me in parking lots but happened while I was parked on a hill. The vehicle stalled after being put in drive and started rolling down the hill - the power steering and ABS did not work.

2023 Audi Q3 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Dec 18, 2023 · ODI 11560744

The car had automatically shut off several times. This past time (which is why i'm reporting it) I was driving to my office that is less than 1.5 miles from house and I was going through a 4 way intersection and the car completed shut off, steering wheel locked , brake and accelerator pedals locked.

2019 Audi Q3 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Feb 26, 2020 · ODI 11311716

I purchased a 2023 Audi Q3 and less than a year of owning the vehicle, I was driving when I lost power to the vehicle’s engine, with absolutely NO warning sign. Thankfully, I was able to pull over on the side of 95 and turn the car off, thinking maybe it was just overheating.

2023 Audi Q3 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Aug 18, 2025 · ODI 11681427

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi TSB_2081573_1 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the TSB_2081573_1 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does TSB_2081573_1 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 7 model years: 2025 Audi Q3, 2024 Audi Q3, 2023 Audi Q3, 2022 Audi Q3, 2021 Audi Q3, 2020 Audi Q3 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
