Counts are owner reports to NHTSA, not verified defects, and scale with how many of these were sold; nothing here is a rate. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so “Service Brakes” means the same area of the vehicle, not one fault.

Recall has been ongoing since February. Received notice and letter that remedy was available and took the car to dealer. Remedy was implemented but it still shows as an open recall. Sees like the manufacturer has failed to remedy or is not able to
Thankfully, I have not been involved in an accident to-date, but my 2023 BMW X1 has been the subject of a recall involving its braking system since February 2024, with no available remedy as of August 15, 2024. The lack of urgency by BMW to fix an issue involving the safety of its customers and vehicles' occupants is startling.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre brake problems common on the 2023 BMW X1?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 53 owner complaints naming the brakes on this model year (76% of everything owners filed about it), and 2 recalls are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the brakes on the 2023 BMW X1?
Yes — 2 campaigns are filed under this heading: 26V422000, 24V697000. A recall is matched by VIN; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
When do brake problems show up on the 2023 BMW X1?
Too few of the complaints carry an odometer reading to say. The model year's page shows the mileage curve across every system where it can.
What does NHTSA's "Service Brakes" heading cover?
The hydraulic brakes, ABS and brake assist. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
