Filed with NHTSA by the people who own these cars, about the fuel system. Quoted as written, with anything identifying removed; unverified reports — what was said, not a finding that it was true.

Vehicle leaked fuel onto the garage floor. This is a fire hazard for my home and the hybrid vehicle. The dealership is currently inspecting the issue, and have stated they could not find the source of the leak at this time. There were no warning messages or lamps

My 2023 Toyota Tundra currently has a open recall for the fuel tube rubbing against another near component increasing the risk of fire. The life of my family/public and myself were put at risk every day as this can cause a fire which is life threating.

There has been a known issue and recall on this vehicle since August with both personal and public life threatening events. Official notifications are just being shared from Toyota with no sight line provided for permanent fix. This causes significant cause for concern and angst in daily driving of the vehicle.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communications

Are fuel system problems common on the 2023 Toyota Tundra?

They are documented: NHTSA holds 76 owner complaints naming the fuel system on this model year (19% of everything owners filed about it), and 1 recall is filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.

Is there a recall for the fuel system on the 2023 Toyota Tundra?

Yes — one campaign is filed under this heading: 23V566000. A recall is matched by VIN; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

When do fuel system problems show up on the 2023 Toyota Tundra?

Too few of the complaints carry an odometer reading to say. The model year's page shows the mileage curve across every system where it can.

What does NHTSA's "Fuel/Propulsion System" heading cover?

Fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
