2018 Toyota Camry fuel system problems
102 of the 771 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the 2018 Toyota Camry name the fuel system (NHTSA’s “Fuel/Propulsion System” heading — fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors). Counts are owner reports to NHTSA, not verified defects, and scale with how many of these were sold; nothing here is a rate. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so “Fuel/Propulsion System” means the same area of the vehicle, not one fault.

When I turn on the key, before ignition and the car is off for several hours, I hear a humming sound coming from the trunk area. I strongly believe it is coming out from the gas pump. I have expressed my concern to my Toyota dealer during my last two services. No feedback has been given to me
Often during acceleration, my car seems to sputter or misfire. When taking off there seems to be, as the only way I can describe it, an air bubble in the fuel line. Kinda like fuel isn't constantly being fed to the engine. There are gaps. While driving at a constant speed, this does not happen.
When I first start the car in the mornings, let run for a few minutes, and drive off about half a block, stop at intersection and proceed, the car will hesitate, die down if it floods out and then it will pick up,during this hesitation,i could in the intersection and with traffic coming,i do not know if the car will stop or go.
Fuel and air going into the fuel injection system are not in balance. Check engine light comes on
I have been getting my gas at the same place for a long time. It starts missing and cutting out. I took it in they said try different gas I have still doing same thing it has been doing it since 30000 miles

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre fuel system problems common on the 2018 Toyota Camry?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 102 owner complaints naming the fuel system on this model year (13% of everything owners filed about it), and 4 recalls are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the fuel system on the 2018 Toyota Camry?
Yes — 4 campaigns are filed under this heading: 25V028000, 20V682000, 20V012000, 18V108000. A recall is matched by VIN; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
When do fuel system problems show up on the 2018 Toyota Camry?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 28,500 miles; half of them between 8,000 and 47,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Fuel/Propulsion System" heading cover?
Fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
